Lake Torrent Northern Ireland
Lake Torrent is a development project located in Northern Ireland, transforming 163 acres of former clay pits in Coalisland into an International Motorsport Centre of Excellence.
Driven International have been appointed as the project race track designer and have created an undulating and exciting race track, which will ultimately work towards achieving FIA and FIM track safety licenses and be eligible to host major national and international events.
Driven took on the brief from Lake Torrent to develop various conceptual track layouts, before beginning the detailed race track engineering based on a 3.59km circuit, which offers 12 turns and a mix of technical and high speed sequences, over a 24 metre elevation range. The track will be designed to “ride like a road”, making it challenging for professional racers but also offering an ideal venue for day to day training or corporate driving experiences.
The track and overall site design is now progressing into a detailed stage, with Driven working alongside Graham6 architecture and engineering and local surveyors to develop the site wide civil engineering specifications and master plan. Careful placement of buildings and landscaping to reduce noise breakout have been incorporated into the plans.
The first phase of works, which includes for the race circuit, community facilities and town new ring road is due to be completed in 2018.
The project site is located within a 2 hour drive of most of Northern Ireland and is within easy reach of the M1 Motorway and located only 40 minutes drive from Belfast, providing direct access to two International airports and sea ports.
